As you can see dear Devotees…the multi coloured stripes of Hudson’s Bay…have become my current obsession.

Hello Devotees, the highlight of last weeks shopping extravaganza in Toronto(besides shopping with Fashionista Dimitri)was the redemption of my Holt Renfrew Gift Card. Hmm…what to get? So many interesting options in that palace of luxury on Bloor St. Dimitri suggested this Bottega Veneta document case…he can be so practical at times…except when he’s buying St Laurent shoes.

My sales associate Rachel, was lovely and helpful and made this transaction a delight. Off it was with this hot pink bag to Toronto’s most fabulous restaurant The Chase(http://www.thechasetoronto.com/index.php)…what a wonderful place, not only is the food perfect but the staff, decor and lighting are amazing!

Then it was back home after a whirlwind of glamour. I thought it would be practical to take the bus home from the Go Transit Terminal(housed in a vintage 1929 Art Deco train station)…but thought it would be more prudent to take a taxi…might not be a wise thing for East of James to take the Cannon bus back to Crown Point clutching a hot pink bag.

Dear Devotees…nothing is more intimidating than a Hermes blanket!

Go Linda

Untitled by Martin Margiela is the only fragrance I wear. The two versions of the scent and the accompanying shower gel and lotion are only available in Canada at Hudson’s Bay…online and at the Queen St location in Toronto, ON.

It reminds me of a certain rive gauche park in Paris…fragrant, fresh, green and full of endless possibility…

Farewell Targer

16 Jan

Dear Targer

Farewell and goodbye…thanks for another broken heart.
I do have fond memories, I never thought the old neighbourhood would ever get a Starbucks…thank you for that, though it was brief.

Also thank you for my gorgeous black mesh French Mid-Century inspired patio set that reminds me of the one Thom Browne has on the terrace of his penthouse in Greenwich Village.

I am also grateful for the Philip Lin trench coat that I managed to find after stalking four of your stores during an epic, orgy of retail satisfaction. When I wear it I work it!

Sorry things didn’t work out…years from now when I remember you…and I will…I’ll be kind.

Love E of J’s

Here I am dear devotees, its been a busy week here in Crown Point Village, as I was on a much needed vacation. Now most people rest on their holidays, not I as I took advantage of the warm weather to attend to my garden, which is shaping up quite nicely. I had no idea that I would enjoy gardening…go figure. Inside is shaping up as well, as I managed to clear out some of inventory. It was sad to see some of my collection go, but on the bright side now I have more room…for more stuff!

Saturday mornings are spent with friends, first we hit the market then we go for breakfast here on the OS. Our farmer’s market keeps getting better and better as the nicer weather brings more stall holders. It’s wonderful to see so many shoppers out so early supporting local farmers and merchants.
Lately I can’t seem to get enough of Cake and Loaf’s marshmallows, every week they come in a different flavour. I wonder if they will make blueberry ones for next week? The market also sells flowers and plants and there is an interesting selection. Of course each week brings in more seasonal vegetables and fruits. I also picked up a jug of concord grape juice hmm…wonder what I could mix that with? I love living so close to the market, it’s so European.

More news on the street, there is construction happening at the old Kent Hardware site. I wonder what will be going in, how exciting. There are so many possibilities…food…decor…bar…Prada?
Think I’ll have to do more snooping around, stay tuned devotees.

PS…a shout out to my haters….get a makeover!

Lofty Ambitions

17 May

Hey Devotees, what a delight it was to check out Ottawa St’s latest addition, an uber cool design shop curated by its enthusiastic owner Elizabeth. It is well known that I have a chair fetish, and this would be the place to indulge it. There were so many items on display that I really loved and wanted. The orange side chair was very Jean Prouvesque, I was digging its French 50’s charm. The lucite bamboo side chair was so glam, in a Hollywood Regency kind of way. There was also a rug that looked like sea stones, now wouldn’t that be perfect for a beach house bedroom. Lofty Ambitions has got to be the hippest store east of james.(https://loftyambitions.ca/)

Avon Calling

Hello Devotees! Just in from seeing The Grand Budapest Hotel (http://youtu.be/1Fg5iWmQjwk) with Madame T. We thoroughly enjoyed the film…especially all the East European socialist 60’s style hotel scenes and the references to gypsies(being 1/32 myself…long story). The cast and art design were amazing, so uber stylish and Mittle-European. My favourite was Tilda Swinton as Madame D, with Sabine Urig as her daughter Laetizia a close second(mostly because she looka lika man).TGBH was a throwback to those glamourous 60’s madcap caper movies with cameo’s galore.

Speaking about movies, time to segue into the latest OS news. Something is afoot at the former Avon Theatre. Seems like a gentleman from Toronto has purchased the building, with the intention of turning it into an antique store. Now it would of been my choice to revert it back into a theatre again, mostly to save me that nasty trek to “Ancastah”. Seeing a movie in a multiplex is about as charming as a Monday night in Bucharest. That being said, its great that an out of towner wants to invest in Crown Point. So kudos to you and welcome to the OS! Lucky for him I have 16 more boxes of vintage goodies to unload. I’m looking forward to posting a blog about this newest addition when it opens for business, so stay tuned for further developments!
